Events
Life is best done together and the St Peter’s is here to help you navigate the celebrations and heartaches. Be it a Wedding, Baptism, Funeral, and anything in between, we want you to know we are here for you.
Baptisms
The Sacrament of Baptism is a requirement to join the United Methodist Church. If you have ever been baptized in another Christian denomination, that baptism is acceptable and there is no need to be re-baptized.
In the tradition of United Methodist Church, baptism is a crucial threshold we cross on our faith journey. Baptism is: (1) a sacrament of initiation into the catholic (universal) church, (2) a sign of God’s forgiveness and our new life in Jesus Christ, (3) the beginning of the growth process in grace that leads us to love God and neighbor and to follow Jesus, and, (4) a gift of God that is received as a sign of God’s love for us.
If you are interested in being baptized or having your child baptized, please contact Rev. Cory Britt.
Weddings
If you are the bride or groom, congratulations on your forthcoming nuptials. A wedding is a service of worship that we provide for members, their families and those of the community, celebrating the union of a man and a woman in marriage.
We are delighted to be a part of that journey with you. If you are inquiring about being married on our campus or having one of our pastors officiate your wedding, please contact Rev. Cory Britt at least 4 months before your wedding date. (Please Keep in mind we are unable to host weddings on our campus during holidays and 3 day weekends)
Funerals
The Service of Death and Resurrection
“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me shall never die.”
John 11:25-26
The Service of Death and Resurrection is a service of worship that expresses gratitude to God for the life of the one who has died and bears witness of our hope that because Christ has been raised from the dead, we too will be raised to new life in him. We worship in the assurance that “neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” It is also a service in which we acknowledge the pain and sorrow of death, even as Jesus wept by the grave of his friend, Lazarus.
We view the service for the burial of the dead as a solemn moment in the life of the Church, reminding us all of our physical mortality. But we also see this time as one in which we can be reminded to give thanks again to God for caring about us enough to send his son that we might have the gift of eternal life. In this way the central focus of the service is on the worship of God and the hope of resurrection.
