Joseph Farrar has joined the staff of St. Peter's United Methodist church as the Director of Music and Worship. A lifelong United Methodist, Joseph brings with him experience from serving churches in the Florida, North Georgia, Alabama-West Florida, and Louisiana conferences.
Though Joseph is a classically trained singer and conductor, he is versitle and has been instrumental in the churches he has served at helping congregations initiate new forms of worship. He has helped to implement contemporary praise and worship services in two of his former churches, and also helped to create a totally new "child centered" weekly worship service called "Family Night Live" in Slidell, Louisiana. Original music written by Joseph for this service was featured in the United Methodist's children's sunday school curriculum "Live Big" in the fall of 2007.
Joseph studied music at the University of Montevallo, in Montevallo, AL and received his Bachelor of Music degree from Columbus State University in Columbus, GA.
Joseph is married to Tanya, who works with the venerable Quattlebaum Funeral and Creamation services in downtown West Palm Beach. They have been married for 17 years and are parents to two cats. They enjoy movies, theatre and dining out on all the wonderful south Florida seafood. Joseph also enjoys cooking favorite meals indiginous to the various places they've lived, especially New Orleans.
Joseph believes that music is part of the soul of every person and that everyone serves God out of a sense of calling. If you believe God is calling you to minister through music, come by and chat about how you can get involved with our music ministry.
